So many of you know, if you follow me on instagram or youtube, that Andrew and I are expecting twins this December. I wanted to share with you all the details from our Gender Reveal Party that we had about a month ago. We had such a great time celebrating with our friends and family. If you are expecting a baby I would definitely recommend having a party like this because it gets everyone excited.
I bought these large chalkboards from Hobby Lobby and painted the frame white. Then I used chalk board markers to write everything. It was fun to see what everyone predicted our twins to be. *We know that the twins are identical which is why they can only be boy/boy or girl/girl.
For our drink set-up we had a mimosa bar, water, pink lemonade (with blueberries to make it pink and blue) along with iced tea. For the mimosa bar we used mango, pomegranate and orange juice.
These pitchers were my friends but I am pretty sure she got them from Costco.
I really wanted to have a chalk board with some wives tales that predicted what the gender would be. I just googled some popular ones and then circled which ever applied to me. (Not sure if these apply to twins!) For food we had fruit, veggies, artichoke dip, a cheese platter, meatballs and turkey wraps.
I had this cake made for me at a local bakery and I love how it turned out. The cake topper is from etsy along with the cupcake toppers. After we all mingled and ate, it was time for the reveal!! (A friend of mine put the boxes together for us. I gave her the results after a doctor’s appointment, and she was the only one who knew!)
I was so shocked. I really thought we’d have boys. But clearly what do I know?
Here is a video of the day, and you can see us opening the boxes!
Alrighty, so here are a few pictures of our kitchen half way through reno. This is all new cabinets, sink, faucet, microwave and oven. I’m currently in love with our sink. It’s by Kohler and I love how deep it is. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s beautiful! I would highly recommend this sink and faucet. I put together a video so you can see the process of taking out the old cabinets and putting it the new ones. Up next is paint, hardware and backsplash! I can’t wait to show it to you once it’s all finished!
Hey guys! Long time no talk. This pregnancy has put me under the radar for quite some time it seems. The nausea has decided to stick around for longer than I had anticipated which puts things on hold a little longer! I wanted to share with you all a great offer Airbnb is having for San Diego residents this summer. I was excited to partner with Airbnb because I have been using their services for a few years now staying in places from Santa Barbara to Boston. It’s also been on my mind lately because Andrew and I want to do a Babymoon soon and are going to go through Airbnb again. Both Andrew and I are huge fans of it because you really get to experience your vacation in a more authentic way. I love feeling like a local and learning all the best places to go from my hosts.
If you are already an avid using of Airbnb, or even if you aren’t, I wanted to open you up to the idea of hosting one of your rooms or even a few rooms in your home. It’s a way to earn extra income and also meet people from all around the world. If you live within 25 miles of San Diego, they are offering a $200 cash bonus using this link http://airbnb.com/WithKendra and then you’ll need to create your first listing through that link as well.
So if you are looking to earn a little extra money to go on a trip yourself I think this is such a unique way to do it. Plus you can do it around your schedule.
Things to know:
-Airbnb hosts in San Diego can make up to $4,000 per month in the summer!*
-San Diego is a highly coveted vacation spot with a growing demand for hosts.
-If you have open rooms, you might as well make some money off of them!
-People use Airbnb to live like locals and get a different experience.
*Average monthly earnings from top 10% of active San Diego listings June to August 2015. Source Airbnb.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far! It seems to be flying by. This has been quite the warm summer too! Andrew and I have been taking full advantage of our pool…and the AC!
I’m sure most of you have heard by now that the Nordstrom sale is in full swing. Early access is available for those with a Nordstrom Debit or Credit Card, until July 21st. Then the sale is available for everyone. The nice thing is a lot of fall items are on sale so you can get a jump start on your shopping. I’ve pulled a few items that are first of all super cute, and secondly, great steals! Have you guys started your shopping yet?
Hey everyone! So our kitchen is currently under construction and it’s madness. Our cabinets are fully installed which is awesome, but our water isn’t connected yet so we have been washing dishes outside which has been lovely. We had our countertop guy come out today to take measurements and everything. I’m in love with the counters we found. They are going to be quartz but the pattern looks so similar to marble I can’t believe it. The company is Arizona Tile and the style is New Carrara. The one I originally chose was way more expensive so I’m glad this guy suggested this brand instead. We were going to just go with pre-fab pieces, but the color selection was so limited. So we decided to spend a little more on fabrication to get the design we really wanted. We also still need to have our cabinets painted and have our faucet installed. Our sink and faucet are both by Kohler and I’m in love with both! I’ll link them for you if you want to see! (sink & facet)
I wanted to share some pictures that have given me inspiration. I can’t wait to share actual pictures of our kitchen with you soon!
I’m excited to share with you all that I am pregnant! My husband and I were so happy when we got a positive pregnancy test! The crazy thing is, at our first doctor’s appointment we found out there isn’t just one baby growing inside of me, but TWO! Now I have a million questions and concerns going through my head at all times of the day. So I wanted to share how I found out I was pregnant and also some of my symptoms. (They have changed drastically!)
Currently I am 9 weeks and 2 days, so I’m not out of my first trimester but it was getting so hard not to say anything. I know it’s a little risky spreading the news a little early but I also was feeling sheltered and on my own. The day I posted on Instagram, I got so many well wishes and great advice from you guys. I think it made me feel better knowing I’m not alone in this and having the support felt amazing.
I ended up taking two pregnancy tests on a Monday, and I wasn’t supposed to start my period until that Thursday. But I had been feeling a little different for a few days. I was very crampy and moody. I usually don’t get cramps until the day before or day off my period, so I knew it was a little odd. I ended up taking my first test (a cheap one from the dollar store) late in the day around 2:30, so I knew the chances of it being positive were low. Yet, two lines filled in right away. I honestly couldn’t believe it. So then, I used one of the more expensive digital tests to make sure. Three minutes later there was a big YES on the screen!
Symptoms weeks 1-4:
-very moody, emotional and easily irritated
-tired around 4
-starving all the time
Symptoms weeks 5-8:
-nauseous throughout the day, comes in waves (NO FUN)
-no food sounds good, but always hungry
-very tired most of day, bed around 9:00
I’m excited to share this journey with you guys and also learn from your experiences! Praying for a safe pregnancy and two healthy babies!
I’ve put together a list of all my fashion favorites this month. I’ve been really into keeping my style very laid back and casual. If I’m not wearing flats, I keep it to wedges are chunky heels. For accessories I’ve been wearing a lot of delicate gold pieces and layering them. I love the look of simple gold jewelry. It looks effortless and goes with everything! For clothes I’ve been loving stripes and also beachy/sporty pieces. I hope you have all had a great month! If you missed my beauty favorites you can watch below!

With the weather changing, comes alterations in my skincare routine. Recently my skin has become much dryer than it ever was. (Yay for aging…) So because of that, I add in a few more steps and use products that bring and help retain moisture in my skin. I have stared using SK-II Facial Treatment Essence after I cleanse my skin. The first thing that peaked my interest is that people refer to this product as ‘miracle water’. Yes please! This product moisturizes the skin and helps moderate the skin surface renewal cycle. As we age, we produce cells at a slower rate, so I love using products that help speed that process up.
The essence is enriched with more than 90% Pitera™, containing vitamins, amino acids and minerals. I’ve noticed my skin tone has evened out and looks much more smooth since using this for a couple weeks. And even though it doesn’t claim to help with breakouts, mine have cleared up a lot since using! Here’s how to use: I add a few drops onto a cotton round and apply all over my skin, then follow with a serum and moisturizer. (They suggest applying to your fingers and pressing into your skin, I’m just a creature of habit and put every liquid product onto a cotton round.) I’d highly recommend this product if you are looking for something that is both anti-aging and hydrating. I’m planning on doing a full skin care video this month, so I’ll have a corresponding blog post as well! Stay tuned to see all the other products I use for my skin.
Ahh spring is in full bloom. Well it has actually felt like summer this week. It’s been in the 90’s. What in the world? Is it hot where you guys live or just me? I swear we get two weeks with rain and then it’s back to summer. Oh how I miss you Seattle! (I’m taking a trip there this summer and cannot WAIT.) We are headed to the river this weekend so more heat for me. But the river is such an escape for Andrew and I. It’s very refreshing to not have service for an entire weekend and just be.
Today’s look is what I wore out in Palm Springs last weekend and I love it so much. This dresss is super comfy and I love wearing this bralette under to add a little extra something. These wedges are also my new fav. I’ve been wanting a pair of black wedges and these are perfecto. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your friends and family! How the heck is it already May???? Seriously these months have been flying by. Oh also a little update on our kitchen! I went shopping for countertops today and picked out the quartz we want to go with. I loooove the look of marble but I want something more durable so I had to compromise. We are getting our lower cabinets installed in a few weeks so I’ll have more pictures very soon! (Did I mention our uppers are done? They look amazing!) Okay talk soon!
Hey guys! So we have officially started on our kitchen reno. It has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to get started. We have a pretty small kitchen so our main goal is to make it look larger and brighter. Currently we have white tile for our counters and our cabinets are an antique cream finish. Here a few pictures so you can see what we are working with.
So our first order of business is to rip out all the cabinets. Andrew started this afternoon and it was pretty entertaining. Follow me on snapchat to see! (@kendraatkins) We are having the uppers installed on Saturday and then will have the lower ones installed in a few weeks. Once those are in we will go look for our countertops. We wanted to make this a process so we weren’t spending a ton of money all at once.
Now let’s talk about what we want it to look like! So for our cabinets we are matching them to our breakfast nook style. We went with the inset style which looks more sleek and polished to me. (It is more expensive, but I think it’s worth it.) We’ll paint them Swiss Coffee, which is what all of our trim is throughout our house. Our current cabinets are pretty low, so we are raising them about a foot on the top side and then extending the gap between our counters and the upper cabinets by a few inches as well. Once of the biggest changes is our range hood. Right now we have our microwave above the stove (actually we already ripped that out!) but we are going to move it down to the left of the stove. Kind of where our current pantry door is. We bought a stove hood and are having it fitted with wood so it looks finished. I’ll put the picture we wanted it to look like below.
We also are cutting our pantry door in half and extending our counters all the way. That is one change I’m very excited about! I always need more counter space! As far as our backsplash goes, I’m thinking of doing an arabesque style tile. Here are some kitchens with it below.
I think it gives a nice cottage feel, it also is a little warmer than subway tile. Plus, I want to do our guest bath in subway tile, so I figured I should switch it up in the kitchen. We will also do a farm style sink and all our hardware will be in a chrome finish. For our countertops I want to go with quartz since it is more durable than marble, and also less expensive. (I want it to look like marble though!) Here are a few styles I like:
I’m so excited to share this whole process with you guys! Our home will be in disarray for a while but it will be totally worth it. If you have re-done your kitchen before leave me some tips in the comments!
