Bathroom Reveal


Hey guys! I am so excited to share our completed guest bathroom with you. It was a long process because we completely re-did the entire thing since it was in bad shape to begin with. Even though it took a while I would definitely do it again! I am so happy with how everything turned out. It’s exactly as I envisioned it.  I have both before and after pictures for you so you can see the difference. In the very start we changed part of the actual structure of the bathroom to create more space. Originally there was a shelf on the opposite side of the wall (where our dining room is) so we closed that off, which allowed us to open up the ceiling higher in the bathroom. I have to give credit to Andrew for that idea! We used all Kohler products to give the design a very cohesive feel. Honestly, everything works so well, I’m super impressed with the quality, functionality, and aesthetic. I think I love the shower head the most. Well, maybe the sink!! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
IMG_4986Something I really wanted when designing this space was a hotel feel but with a few rustic elements. I think the honeycomb marble tiled floor really helped to create that vibe. Also, having the subway tile come up the wall is something I always loved about hotels I’ve stayed at in New York. It gives a clean and classic look.IMG_4568IMG_4966IMG_4569IMG_4978I wanted to keep all the big pieces white so that the printed wallpaper would pop. I also chose a very dark grey grout to add some contrast to the all white tile. For the hardware I went with chrome to bring a touch of elegance to the space. I also love that it complements our kitchen! When decorating our home, I like all the rooms to have their own look but keep with a similar style throughout. That way the whole home has a very cohesive feel to it and I can switch out decor accents between all the rooms. IMG_4977IMG_4980

^^Our Verdera Medicine Cabinet is one of my favorite features of the room. We had the piece installed in the wall so it doesn’t even stick out too far, yet we still have a ton of storage inside. It is clean and simple and I love how the wallpaper reflects in it.^^

IMG_4984^^The sink is called Ceramic Impressions and it has been so easy to clean. I also have been loving the vanity. It is real wood and has soft close doors which really fit a lot inside.^^IMG_4563IMG_4556IMG_4561^^Floating shelves were on our must-have list. I knew that there would be a lot of white so I wanted a wooden element to break it up and bring a little warmth to the space. We had a friend of ours make these for us. I just showed him similar styles that I had seen on Pinterest.^^
IMG_4555IMG_4551IMG_4550^^The shower is such a transformation. Before it looked much smaller. Extending the subway tile all the way to the ceiling really helps to make the bathroom look larger. I also had a little nook installed for extra storage of shampoo and conditioners.^^IMG_4987

BEFORE SHOTS:

Here are some pictures of what the bathroom looked like when we moved in and then a few during the reno process. I’ll lay out what the steps looked like.

-Rip everything out including flooring, fixtures, tub, toilet and vanity.

-Cut out overhang to raise the ceiling height. (We had to close it off first on the opposite side of  the wall.)

-Re-route pipe, new drywall and texture. We also raised the shower head about a foot.

-Waterproof shower/tub.

-Tile walls.

-Install vanity, toilet, shower fixtures.

-Cut out wall to fit mirror, patch up drywall and re-texture.

-Install mirror and rest of fixtures.

-Apply wallpaper and mount floating shelves.

I’m so excited to share with you our nursery for our twin girls! They were born December 16th at 1:08 and 1:09 and life has definitely changed around here! I had so much fun decorating this room for them. It was nice to be able to go slightly more feminine and girly than the rest of our house. I added touches of rose gold and floral patterns to give it a vintage vibe, and added in some wood elements to keep it balanced. The other thing I wanted to do was decorate it so that they can grow into the space. I didn’t want to have too much of a ‘theme’ because I knew both the girls and myself would get tired of it quick. Instead, I opted for a look that was more classic and simple. A lot of the furniture will work as the girls grow up so we don’t have to keep buying new things all the time. I hope you all enjoy the room as much as I do! And thank you all so much for the kind words on my social media accounts wishing my family well. It means so much to me!

Bathroom Reno Inspiration


Hey guys! Today I wanted to share with you some ideas I have for our guest bath. We are going to completely gut it and re-do everything except the floors. I’ve ordered all the ‘parts’ like tub, faucet, toilet, mirror etc. We are just waiting for them to come in until we start on the demo. Once the tub is in I think we will start. The only thing not finalized is the wallpaper, light fixtures and accessories. We are planning on having the whole room subway tiled. In the shower it will go from the top of the tub up to the ceiling. Then the tile will extend all around the room going half way up the wall. I’ll then have wallpaper on the upper part of the walls. I’m leaning towards some of the designs from Anthropologie but it’s so hard! I want something with a little interest since everything else is basically white. Let me know if you have some wallpaper recommendations the comments. I’m so ready to get it all started. I’m really hoping we can have it done by the time the girls are born!bathroom design

Finished Kitchen Renovation


White Kitchen Renovation and Design

Our kitchen is finally done! It is so amazing not having contractors come to our home every week to work on cabinets,  paint, backsplash…the list goes on and on! So today I lots of pictures and I’ll give you details on everything as well. Let me first say that redoing our kitchen was a lot more work that I had anticipated on! However, I think in the end it was all worth it. I had a vision of what I wanted the end result to look like and it’s just as I imagined. Below are two pictures of what it looked like before the paint and backsplash.

Our cabinets are painted with Behr Swiss Coffee (semi-gloss), which is the color of our trim all throughout the house. When they first painted it I thought it looked so bright. But once the backsplash was installed (which is a bright white), the cabinets actually look much more creamy. The counters also look more grey no with everything completed. The counters are quartz and the color is New Carrara from Arizona Tile. We chose to use two slabs because I wasn’t a fan of pre-fab color options. Also, I don’t know if you remember, but we used to have a giant pantry to the left of the stove. We decided we’d rather have more counter space, so we extended the countertops to the wall. Now I use that space so much and I don’t even miss the pantry. Instead we have our spices, baking supplies, vitamins and other things in the two doors to the left of the over. We have all our canned goods and snacks in the drawer below the microwave.

We had glossy standard subway tile installed (non-bevel) with a light grey grout color. Originally we weren’t going to go all the way around the window, but I am so happy that’s what we ended up doing. Our hardware is from Home Depot and it’s by Martha Stewart (pulls & knobs in brushed nickel) Andrew ended up installing all of them and he did such an amazing job (I was super impressed)!

Like I mentioned in my part 1 of the reno, our sink (32 in.) and faucet are both from Kohler. Everyday I love them more and more. The faucet is not only beautiful, but it is so functional. It has an extendable spout and three different settings (normal, spray and one that cleans the bottom of the sink out). I’m really happy I went with an apron front sink. It ended up taking around two months to complete everything. Instead of having it all done at once, we wanted to space everything out (cabinets first, countertops next etc.) so we didn’t have to pay for everything all at once. It worked out great because we had a lot of time to decide on the exact thing we wanted done. Overall, I am so pleased with how everything turned out and I am also so thankful we did it all before our twins are born!


Kitchen Reno: Part 1


Alrighty, so here are a few pictures of our kitchen half way through reno. This is all new cabinets, sink, faucet, microwave and oven. I’m currently in love with our sink. It’s by Kohler and I love how deep it is. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s beautiful! I would highly recommend this sink and faucet. I put together a video so you can see the process of taking out the old cabinets and putting it the new ones. Up next is paint, hardware and backsplash! I can’t wait to show it to you once it’s all finished!

Kitchen Renovation


Hey guys! So we have officially started on our kitchen reno. It has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to get started. We have a pretty small kitchen so our main goal is to make it look larger and brighter. Currently we have white tile for our counters and our cabinets are an antique cream finish. Here a few pictures so you can see what we are working with.

So our first order of business is to rip out all the cabinets. Andrew started this afternoon and it was pretty entertaining. Follow me on snapchat to see! (@kendraatkins) We are having the uppers installed on Saturday and then will have the lower ones installed in a few weeks. Once those are in we will go look for our countertops. We wanted to make this a process so we weren’t spending a ton of money all at once.  kitchen designkitchen design

Now let’s talk about what we want it to look like! So for our cabinets we are matching them to our breakfast nook style. We went with the inset style which looks more sleek and polished to me. (It is more expensive, but I think it’s worth it.) We’ll paint them Swiss Coffee, which is what all of our trim is throughout our house. Our current cabinets are pretty low, so we are raising them about a foot on the top side and then extending the gap between our counters and the upper cabinets by a few inches as well. Once of the biggest changes is our range hood. Right now we have our microwave above the stove (actually we already ripped that out!) but we are going to move it down to the left of the stove. Kind of where our current pantry door is. We bought a stove hood and are having it fitted with wood so it looks finished. I’ll put the picture we wanted it to look like below.kitchen design

We also are cutting our pantry door in half and extending our counters all the way. That is one change I’m very excited about! I always need more counter space! As far as our backsplash goes, I’m thinking of doing an arabesque style tile. Here are some kitchens with it below.

kitchen design kitchen designI think it gives a nice cottage feel, it also is a little warmer than subway tile. Plus, I want to do our guest bath in subway tile, so I figured I should switch it up in the kitchen. We will also do a farm style sink and all our hardware will be in a chrome finish. For our countertops I want to go with quartz since it is more durable than marble, and also less expensive. (I want it to look like marble though!) Here are a few styles I like:

Bedroom Decor Update

Hey guys! I’m so excited to share this post with you. Our bedroom is practically complete now so I wanted to show you our ‘nook’ area. Before we had nothing here and I had envisioned something very calming and relaxing. I wanted it to be a sitting area, but also a place for a large mirror so I could get a good look at all my outfits! Mirrors also make spaces look much larger. Our bedroom is pretty monochromatic so I wanted a few pops of color, but nothing overwhelming. I went with this photo of Venice for some added color. Pillows are also an easy way to change up the look and feel of a room. I hope you all love it as much as I do! ^^This picture is so dreamy. I could stare at it all day. Venice is one of my top places I want to visit, so having this image in our room keeps that dream always visible! I chose the champagne silver frame because I felt the silver would be too stark and we don’t have any gold in our room as it is. This was a happy medium. ^^This mirror is everything! It’s not on the Joss & Main site anymore (I linked a similar one down below) but I would check often to see if it comes back! I first saw a similar mirror at Neiman Marcus and Horchow, but it was way too expensive. One morning I saw it on Joss & Main and pretty much bought it 5 minutes later! I love how thick the frame is. Breakfast Nook

Our breakfast nook is finally complete! This was quite the process but I am so happy with how everything turned out. When we moved in, this was an odd space but it called for a built-in! We found a local contractor who custom built the bench for the space. I love the drawers on either side that give us a little more storage. Right now we keep our board games in them. We looked on Pinterest for style ideas, and loved when breakfast nooks had a little character. To get that, we added molding all around and added extra slats for more dimension. (Chandelier is from Joss & Main)

Our cushion foam and fabric is from Joann’s. I bought the thickest piece of foam they carried (which might I add, foam is expensive!). I then took it to an upholster shop to get it covered. Getting the measurements for the cushions was the most stressful part of this whole project. Once I brought them home and they fit I took a big sigh of relief! We still need to get some velcro so they don’t slide around.

Finding a table was a nightmare. We first ordered one from Etsy but when it came it didn’t look right and was too small for the area. We ended up having to wait about 3 months for that table because each piece was made to order, so when we had to send it back it was a little frustrating. This table is from Hayneedle and we had to wait about 2 months for it. It felt like we had the bench for ever just no table! It’s crazy we actually have a table now. I am so happy with this table though. It is exactly what I had in mind. I love the unique pedestal base and walnut top.

Merry Christmas!


Merry Christmas Eve everyone! This morning I wanted to share some pictures of our holiday decor! I felt like this was such a long holiday season full of parties, decorating and so much sugar! Andrew and I were at Disneyland the other day and it was swamped with people. I think we hit a wall and realized we need a break from both Disney (I know shocking!), and also people. Christmas functions become a bit overwhelming at times and I think January is such a great time to regain your energy and clarity for the new year. So with that said, time to show you some pictures of our decor. It isn’t a ton, but we have been in apartments up until this year so I never really bought too many things for Christmas. I might go shopping after Christmas to get some more things for next year!

We got a fake tree this year from Lowes. I wasn’t even planning on it, but when we saw how real it looked we thought it was a no-brainer. We ended up getting the 7.5 foot one and it fits perfectly. I also love not having to water it! Our tree skirt is from West Elm, but unfortunately is sold out. But I love the faux fur look. For our whole tree theme it ended up looking very cozy and cabin-like. Reindeer and flannel wrapping paper will do that! (I found all my wrapping paper from Target this year.)withkendra.com

We found new stockings this year from West Elm (again, out of stock…so sorry!). The green one is for our sweet pup and those were the ones we used to use in our old apartments! I found those at Target three years ago. withkendra.com

I am a huge fan of putting greenery everywhere possible! It adds a cozy feel and is super easy. I also love that you can make it your own by sticking some metallic beads or pinecones in it. You can see I don’t like to use very bright decorations. I like them to just blend with our normal decor.withkendra.com

Bedroom Mood Board

All we have in our bedroom currently is a linen tufted bed, teal tufted settee (we had it custom upholstered, but the one above is similar) and mismatched bedside tables. I wanted to put together some decor ideas that I’ve been really into lately. If you guys have seen any of our home vlogs, you have seen our bedroom/closet layout. I want to put a rug like the one above in the closet space to make it look more like a closet and make it look like it’s own room. I also want to put that oval ottoman in the middle of it so we can use it as seating and fill out the room more. For the wall opposite our bed, we have our settee there now. I want to put a gold floor length mirror next to it that leans against the wall along with a little side table. The black chests in the photo are what I’m thinking of for our bedside tables. Our room is pretty big and our current tables look really tiny. I also like the idea of having all that extra storage space. As far as style goes, I want our room to be soft and romantic, but with some moroccan and rustic elements to keep it from looking too stuffy. Let me know what you guys think!
