I’m so excited to share with you our nursery for our twin girls! They were born December 16th at 1:08 and 1:09 and life has definitely changed around here! I had so much fun decorating this room for them. It was nice to be able to go slightly more feminine and girly than the rest of our house. I added touches of rose gold and floral patterns to give it a vintage vibe, and added in some wood elements to keep it balanced. The other thing I wanted to do was decorate it so that they can grow into the space. I didn’t want to have too much of a ‘theme’ because I knew both the girls and myself would get tired of it quick. Instead, I opted for a look that was more classic and simple. A lot of the furniture will work as the girls grow up so we don’t have to keep buying new things all the time. I hope you all enjoy the room as much as I do! And thank you all so much for the kind words on my social media accounts wishing my family well. It means so much to me!
Hey guys! Today I wanted to share with you some ideas I have for our guest bath. We are going to completely gut it and re-do everything except the floors. I’ve ordered all the ‘parts’ like tub, faucet, toilet, mirror etc. We are just waiting for them to come in until we start on the demo. Once the tub is in I think we will start. The only thing not finalized is the wallpaper, light fixtures and accessories. We are planning on having the whole room subway tiled. In the shower it will go from the top of the tub up to the ceiling. Then the tile will extend all around the room going half way up the wall. I’ll then have wallpaper on the upper part of the walls. I’m leaning towards some of the designs from Anthropologie but it’s so hard! I want something with a little interest since everything else is basically white. Let me know if you have some wallpaper recommendations the comments. I’m so ready to get it all started. I’m really hoping we can have it done by the time the girls are born!
Hey guys! I’m so excited to share this post with you. Our bedroom is practically complete now so I wanted to show you our ‘nook’ area. Before we had nothing here and I had envisioned something very calming and relaxing. I wanted it to be a sitting area, but also a place for a large mirror so I could get a good look at all my outfits! Mirrors also make spaces look much larger. Our bedroom is pretty monochromatic so I wanted a few pops of color, but nothing overwhelming. I went with this photo of Venice for some added color. Pillows are also an easy way to change up the look and feel of a room. I hope you all love it as much as I do! And a big thank you to Joss & Main and Minted for helping me bring my vision to life!
^^This chair is exactly what I wanted. It is big enough to lounge in, but doesn’t take up too much space. I love how the legs give it a formal feel, yet the back cushion keeps it casual.
^^This picture is so dreamy. I could stare at it all day. Venice is one of my top places I want to visit, so having this image in our room keeps that dream always visible! I chose the champagne silver frame because I felt the silver would be too stark and we don’t have any gold in our room as it is. This was a happy medium. I also love how you can see the reflection of our french doors through the glass.
^^This mirror is everything! It’s not on the Joss & Main site anymore (I linked a similar one down below) but I would check often to see if it comes back! I first saw a similar mirror at Neiman Marcus and Horchow, but it was way too expensive. One morning I saw it on Joss & Main and pretty much bought it 5 minutes later! I love how thick the frame is. It adds such a romantic and old fashion vibe.
This side table adds the perfect amount of balance. I love mixing in rustic pieces with more formal pieces. I never really know what to call my style, I just know what I like!
Our breakfast nook is finally complete! This was quite the process but I am so happy with how everything turned out. When we moved in, this was an odd space but it called for a built-in! We found a local contractor who custom built the bench for the space. I love the drawers on either side that give us a little more storage. Right now we keep our board games in them. We looked on Pinterest for style ideas, and loved when breakfast nooks had a little character. To get that, we added molding all around and added extra slats for more dimension. (Chandelier is from Joss & Main)
Our cushion foam and fabric is from Joann’s. I bought the thickest piece of foam they carried (which might I add, foam is expensive!). I then took it to an upholster shop to get it covered. Getting the measurements for the cushions was the most stressful part of this whole project. Once I brought them home and they fit I took a big sigh of relief! We still need to get some velcro so they don’t slide around.
Our pillows are from Z Gallerie and the two striped ones are from Living Spaces. (Some are 22×22 and some are 24×24)) The old map of Paris is from HomeGoods.
Finding a table was a nightmare. We first ordered one from Etsy but when it came it didn’t look right and was too small for the area. We ended up having to wait about 3 months for that table because each piece was made to order, so when we had to send it back it was a little frustrating. This table is from Hayneedle and we had to wait about 2 months for it. It felt like we had the bench for ever just no table! It’s crazy we actually have a table now. I am so happy with this table though. It is exactly what I had in mind. I love the unique pedestal base and walnut top.
I hope you all love how it turned out! Even though it was a very long process, it was completely worth it in the end!
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! This morning I wanted to share some pictures of our holiday decor! I felt like this was such a long holiday season full of parties, decorating and so much sugar! Andrew and I were at Disneyland the other day and it was swamped with people. I think we hit a wall and realized we need a break from both Disney (I know shocking!), and also people. Christmas functions become a bit overwhelming at times and I think January is such a great time to regain your energy and clarity for the new year. So with that said, time to show you some pictures of our decor. It isn’t a ton, but we have been in apartments up until this year so I never really bought too many things for Christmas. I might go shopping after Christmas to get some more things for next year!
We got a fake tree this year from Lowes. I wasn’t even planning on it, but when we saw how real it looked we thought it was a no-brainer. We ended up getting the 7.5 foot one and it fits perfectly. I also love not having to water it! Our tree skirt is from West Elm, but unfortunately is sold out. But I love the faux fur look. For our whole tree theme it ended up looking very cozy and cabin-like. Reindeer and flannel wrapping paper will do that! (I found all my wrapping paper from Target this year.)
I love building upon our ornament collection each year. Andrew and I give each other one every Christmas and I always look forward to it! A few places I love to get mine from are Pottery Barn (wait till they go on sale), Michaels, West Elm, and Pier 1.
(mantel decor from homegoods and michaels)
We found new stockings this year from West Elm (again, out of stock…so sorry!). The green one is for our sweet pup and those were the ones we used to use in our old apartments! I found those at Target three years ago.
I am a huge fan of putting greenery everywhere possible! It adds a cozy feel and is super easy. I also love that you can make it your own by sticking some metallic beads or pinecones in it. You can see I don’t like to use very bright decorations. I like them to just blend with our normal decor.
Next up in my gift guide series is The Hostess! You all know I love home decor. Moving into our first home is what really kickstarted it. I find so much joy browsing around HomeGoods or searching online for the perfect rug. So if you know someone who loves throwing a party or just enjoys her home, I’ve got some amazing finds for you! Can you believe it’s December?? I’m in full on holiday mode! Happy shopping!
So I’m fully aware that it’s still November, but I’m so ready for Christmas. I walked through Target yesterday and couldn’t stop staring at all their holiday decor. If you like metallics and white, you need to go take a look at their new things. I was just scrolling through Joss & Main, which has become a morning ritual now, and got sucked into the Christmas stuff. I even took out some holiday decor pieces I had in storage last night and tried to put them up super nonchalant so Andrew wouldn’t be able to tell. Here is my compromise, I’m decorating ‘wintery’ right now. No santa’s or red and green is up in our home, just whites and metallics. So if you want to start decorating but be secretive about it, I came up with some ‘winter’ picks that will get you in the mood, but won’t make you look like a Christmas freak. (Confession: Michael Buble Holiday is currently playing on my Pandora.)
All we have in our bedroom currently is a linen tufted bed, teal tufted settee (we had it custom upholstered, but the one above is similar) and mismatched bedside tables. I wanted to put together some decor ideas that I’ve been really into lately. If you guys have seen any of our home vlogs, you have seen our bedroom/closet layout. I want to put a rug like the one above in the closet space to make it look more like a closet and make it look like it’s own room. I also want to put that oval ottoman in the middle of it so we can use it as seating and fill out the room more. For the wall opposite our bed, we have our settee there now. I want to put a gold floor length mirror next to it that leans against the wall along with a little side table. The black chests in the photo are what I’m thinking of for our bedside tables. Our room is pretty big and our current tables look really tiny. I also like the idea of having all that extra storage space. As far as style goes, I want our room to be soft and romantic, but with some moroccan and rustic elements to keep it from looking too stuffy. Let me know what you guys think! I’ll have an update video on my channel soon of our bedroom.
Hey guys! Long time no talk! We are slowly but surely getting settled into our new home. It’s nice to actually make a mood board that will work with our space. It’s fun to look on pinterest and see things you like, but you can’t really start planning a room until you are in it! The living room is my current project. It is what you see when you walk in and where we spend most of our time. I am going for a comfortable space with touches of rustic glamour throughout. I love a mediterranean feel as well. So a lot of neutral and wood pieces with greenery and a few pops of jewel toned accents. The pieces I have pulled for are actual things on my list to buy. I have done a lot of searching and these have made the cut. I’ve been loving Joss & Main for really unique finds. I also have been seeing great things on Overstock and Target. Let me know your go-to decor stores in the comments!
Hi friends! So Andrew and I just went furniture shopping in Solana Beach. We went into a bunch of stores looking for beds and other furniture items. We are moving into a new place this summer and need to get some new things, so we figured we’d start looking asap. So here’s the deal. A lot of the stores we were in had some great things, but everything was pretty high in price. The headboard we liked was about $800 and it wasn’t even exactly what we wanted. So I remembered about Joss & Main which is a flash sale site for furniture and home decor and pulled it up on my phone. I found a section called custom upholstery and you can basically create your ideal bed for under $500. I put together a little collage of some pieces I am drooling over right now. Let me know if you guys have heard of this website and if you have ordered anything from there. I am planning on getting this bed within the next month and cannot wait!
