Review: Korres Black Pine Firming Line

FullSizeRender 48Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk skin! I am a huge skincare lover. I am always on the hunt for the absolute best products. I only share things I have been using when my skin is at it’s best, and lucky for me that time is now! Korres is a brand I’ve been using for a long time, so when they launched a new eye serum and reformulated a few products from their Black Pine line, I knew I had to try them! I also was wanting to find some new products to help with my fine lines and dark circles. During my pregnancy my skin was practically perfect. I never had any breakouts and the weight I gained filled in all my fine lines. Now, almost 5 months postpartum, my lines have come back as I drop the weight. And as far as my eyes go, well let’s just say twins and sleep don’t go hand in hand! (On the bright side, we are sleep training and getting so much more sleep it is amazing! Another blog post on that subject coming soon!) So with a lack of sleep comes dark under eyes. I really never had any issues with darkness before, but now, that is my main area of concern. So let me walk you through these products and let you know why they have changed my skin.

Let’s start with eyes. In the photo above the product on the left is the new Black Pine Super Eye Serum. It will lift your entire eye area, leaving you with youthful, bright and fatigue-free eyes. I have noticed a big improvement in the brightness of my under eyes. They are much less dark and smoother than before. Some days I don’t even feel the need to wear concealer (and that is a BIG deal). The serum stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, while diminishing dark circles and reducing the appearance of fine lines. Things we are always looking for in an eye product! It also contains the Defeye Gravity Complex, which helps with sagging eyelids, and Elastilift-3D, which helps to re-contour your face. Hello chiseled features! The 3D Black Pine Eye Cream will also help promote skin elasticity and improve the texture of your under eye area. I like to add the eye cream on top of the serum for a little more moisture overnight.

The next two products I’ve been really enjoying are the Firming, Lifting & Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream and the Active Firming Sleeping Oil. The Sleeping Oil has also been reformulated with more advanced ingredients! Sometimes I’ll use both together if my skin feels extra dry or other times I’ll just use the Sleeping Oil by itself. The oil is ultra-concentrated and feels silky on the skin. It’s extremely lightweight, so if you aren’t usually a fan of oils I’d suggest you try this one because it really sinks into your skin. It helps to recontour, firm and nourish the skin along with optimizing the volume of your skin, making your face look more lifted. I look forward to using this product before bed because of how luxurious it feels. Such a treat! The night cream contains black pine extracts, which are the first natural polypeptides. This helps with collagen and elastic production, firming the skin and protecting your skin from free radicals. If my skin feels extra dry I will apply the night cream on top of the sleeping oil and always wake up with amazing skin.

So if you are in the market for some new firming and lifting skincare products I highly recommend these. I try so many products so for a line to stand out really means something. My skin has looked so much better since incorporating these into my routine and I am highly critical of my own skin! I’d love to know if you already use some of these and how they work for you! Thanks for stopping by!

Babies First Foods

Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk about introducing foods to babies. My twins are now 4 months old and I just started thinking about my plan for feeding them. It’s crazy to think that time is almost here! As of now I am still breastfeeding and giving them formula before bed and sometimes one other time during the day. I also am pumping about 2-3 times a day to up my supply and get some milk for them to have on hand if they won’t nurse. For this post I have partnered up with Stonyfield Organic to show you some more options when it comes to healthy baby food. Their YoBaby line, which is the #1 pediatrician recommended yogurt for ages 6 months-2 years, recently added a new strain of probiotics, BB-12. Probiotics are super beneficial for your gut. And your gut health is the foundation for overall good health.

It’s recommended that you wait to feed solids to your baby until they are 4-6 months old. You also want them to be able to sit upright and hold their head up. Our girls have good head control but still can’t sit up so I’m going to wait until they can. I am starting to notice they get easily distracted when nursing these days. If I start to talk to someone, they will turn their head toward me and start to smile and coo. It’s pretty cute, but can sometimes be frustrating when I want them to eat!

It is a bit overwhelming figuring out what to feed your babies once they are done breastfeeding yet to young for cow’s milk. But dairy is packed with nutrients like calcium and vitamin D which are both super nutritious for growing babies. The nice thing is, even if your babies are still breastfeeding, they can have yogurt at 6 months. These yogurts are a great option and made with organic whole milk.

So what other foods am I going to introduce to our girls first? Egg yolks are at the top of my list. They are packed with beneficial fatty acids and provide cholesterol needed for the optimal development of the nervous system. I’d love to know your thoughts on baby cereal. I’ve heard to pour some breast milk into it to help your baby get used to it. I’m just wondering if it has many nutritional benefits. I’d also like to introduce avocado around six months. They are packed with essential fats, vitamins and minerals. To prepare, I’m going to mush it up and add breast milk to thin it out. The other two things I’d like to introduce early on are bananas and sweet potatoes (both packed with vitamin A, C and folate).

There are so many things to consider when being a mom to two littles, but I just try to trust my instincts and do my best! I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day and thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

Spring Style Trend: Neutral Shoes

Hey guys! Today I wanted to share with you some ways to style neutral shoes. I just got a few pairs of shoes from Aerosoles that are perfect for spring. Neutral shoes are a great thing to add to your wardrobe because of how versatile they are. Especially with twins, styling clothes quickly is very important and pairing clothes with neutral toned shoes takes out a lot of the guess work.

First I am style these rose gold flats with black leggings. I wanted to show you how easy it is to change the look of an outfit by swapping out a few pieces.

^^I love how soft and feminine this look is. Rose gold and florals look so pretty together and are perfect for the spring. And keeping your layers lightweight keep the look fresh.^^

^^Here I chose a slightly longer trench, but kept it in a sheer fabric. The light pink color perfectly complements the rose gold flats. For my top, I have on a striped blouse in a similar fabric to keep the outfit cohesive.^^

^^One of my favorite ways to wear leggings is with a denim top. This one works great buttoned or un-buttoned. Denim is a great option for spring attire. It goes with pretty much everything, and I especially love it with a metallic! To make the look a little sporty, I have my backpack diaper bag which is both cute and functional!^^

Next, I am styling a pair of cork heels that have gold veining throughout them.

Baby Shower

Finally I am here to share my baby shower photos with you all! It was such a beautiful (and hot) day with so much love! Our shower was held in Fallbrook, CA at Myrtle Creek Nursery. There was a tented area where we set everything up. But I’d recommend coming by this nursery for lunch sometime because it is such an adorable spot. You order lunch and it’s put in a picnic basket for you to take anywhere on the nursery to enjoy. We had around 45 people attend the shower from friends to family. The main thing I wanted was a romantic and rustic vibe, and it truly was just that. My mom found the pink table runners on amazon, and her and a friend made the plant party favors. The tags were from Etsy. Our plates, flatware and glassware were from Casa de Perrin and completely made the tables! My dad cut a ton of eucalyptus from their backyard and we used that on top of the runners along with homemade flower arrangements in mason jars.

My dress is from Asos maternity and I absolutely loved it. I ordered a size up (because I’m gaining a whole lot of weight with these twins). But I think I’ll be able to where it post babies too. And my shoes are from Sole Society, which I where with pretty much everything. Where heals was a big deal for me. They came off right when the shower was over, don’t get me wrong! My feet were aching bad! Lately my whole body has been super achy and I am ready for the babies to come out already!

I’ll have a video on some of the things I got at the shower, because I know a lot of you want to see! But for now here is a short video of the shower. I hope you all enjoy!

Kitchen Reno: Part 1

Alrighty, so here are a few pictures of our kitchen half way through reno. This is all new cabinets, sink, faucet, microwave and oven. I’m currently in love with our sink. It’s by Kohler and I love how deep it is. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s beautiful! I would highly recommend this sink and faucet. I put together a video so you can see the process of taking out the old cabinets and putting it the new ones. Up next is paint, hardware and backsplash! I can’t wait to show it to you once it’s all finished!

Ahh spring is in full bloom. Well it has actually felt like summer this week. It’s been in the 90’s. What in the world? Is it hot where you guys live or just me? I swear we get two weeks with rain and then it’s back to summer. Oh how I miss you Seattle! (I’m taking a trip there this summer and cannot WAIT.) We are headed to the river this weekend so more heat for me. But the river is such an escape for Andrew and I. It’s very refreshing to not have service for an entire weekend and just be.

Today’s look is what I wore out in Palm Springs last weekend and I love it so much. This dresss is super comfy and I love wearing this bralette under to add a little extra something. These wedges are also my new fav. I’ve been wanting a pair of black wedges and these are perfecto. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your friends and family! How the heck is it already May???? Seriously these months have been flying by. Oh also a little update on our kitchen! I went shopping for countertops today and picked out the quartz we want to go with. I loooove the look of marble but I want something more durable so I had to compromise. We are getting our lower cabinets installed in a few weeks so I’ll have more pictures very soon! (Did I mention our uppers are done? They look amazing!) Okay talk soon!

Kitchen Renovation

Hey guys! So we have officially started on our kitchen reno. It has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to get started. We have a pretty small kitchen so our main goal is to make it look larger and brighter. Currently we have white tile for our counters and our cabinets are an antique cream finish. Here a few pictures so you can see what we are working with.

kitchen design

So our first order of business is to rip out all the cabinets. Andrew started this afternoon and it was pretty entertaining. Follow me on snapchat to see! (@kendraatkins) We are having the uppers installed on Saturday and then will have the lower ones installed in a few weeks. Once those are in we will go look for our countertops. We wanted to make this a process so we weren’t spending a ton of money all at once.  kitchen designkitchen design

Now let’s talk about what we want it to look like! So for our cabinets we are matching them to our breakfast nook style. We went with the inset style which looks more sleek and polished to me. (It is more expensive, but I think it’s worth it.) We’ll paint them Swiss Coffee, which is what all of our trim is throughout our house. Our current cabinets are pretty low, so we are raising them about a foot on the top side and then extending the gap between our counters and the upper cabinets by a few inches as well. Once of the biggest changes is our range hood. Right now we have our microwave above the stove (actually we already ripped that out!) but we are going to move it down to the left of the stove. Kind of where our current pantry door is. We bought a stove hood and are having it fitted with wood so it looks finished. I’ll put the picture we wanted it to look like below.kitchen design

We also are cutting our pantry door in half and extending our counters all the way. That is one change I’m very excited about! I always need more counter space! As far as our backsplash goes, I’m thinking of doing an arabesque style tile. Here are some kitchens with it below.

kitchen design kitchen designI think it gives a nice cottage feel, it also is a little warmer than subway tile. Plus, I want to do our guest bath in subway tile, so I figured I should switch it up in the kitchen. We will also do a farm style sink and all our hardware will be in a chrome finish. For our countertops I want to go with quartz since it is more durable than marble, and also less expensive. (I want it to look like marble though!) Here are a few styles I like:

kitchen designkitchen designI’m so excited to share this whole process with you guys! Our home will be in disarray for a while but it will be totally worth it. If you have re-done your kitchen before leave me some tips in the comments!

Bedroom Decor Update

seating area

Hey guys! I’m so excited to share this post with you. Our bedroom is practically complete now so I wanted to show you our ‘nook’ area. Before we had nothing here and I had envisioned something very calming and relaxing. I wanted it to be a sitting area, but also a place for a large mirror so I could get a good look at all my outfits! Mirrors also make spaces look much larger. Our bedroom is pretty monochromatic so I wanted a few pops of color, but nothing overwhelming. I went with this photo of Venice for some added color. Pillows are also an easy way to change up the look and feel of a room. I hope you all love it as much as I do! And a big thank you to Joss & Main and Minted for helping me bring my vision to life!upholstered chair

^^This chair is exactly what I wanted. It is big enough to lounge in, but doesn’t take up too much space. I love how the legs give it a formal feel, yet the back cushion keeps it casual.pouf and mirrorsitting area

^^This picture is so dreamy. I could stare at it all day. Venice is one of my top places I want to visit, so having this image in our room keeps that dream always visible! I chose the champagne silver frame because I felt the silver would be too stark and we don’t have any gold in our room as it is. This was a happy medium. I also love how you can see the reflection of our french doors through the glass.ornate floor mirror

^^This mirror is everything! It’s not on the Joss & Main site anymore (I linked a similar one down below) but I would check often to see if it comes back! I first saw a similar mirror at Neiman Marcus and Horchow, but it was way too expensive. One morning I saw it on Joss & Main and pretty much bought it 5 minutes later! I love how thick the frame is. It adds such a romantic and old fashion vibe.sitting areaside table

This side table adds the perfect amount of balance. I love mixing in rustic pieces with more formal pieces. I never really know what to call my style, I just know what I like!bedroom nooksitting area-bedroom design

Hey friends! Today’s outfit is my total comfort zone. I love wearing darker colors together to create a mono-chromatic look. It’s also an added bonus when they are all comfortable pieces. These jeans have become my new favorite. They are seriously so comfy. And I’ve been wearing this cardigan with practically everything lately. To lounge around the house, out to lunch, grocery shopping…seriously everything! I hope you are all having a great week so far. I’ve been trying to re-charge from this weekend. We went out for a friend’s birthday and I haven’t ‘gone out’ in forever! So when I stayed out until 12:00 it was a big deal. Have a great day everything and thanks for stopping by!

Floral + Flirty

There is something so great about a flowy maxi dress. I love the drama they bring. This one I especially love because of the print. Florals are one of my favorite ways to transition into spring fashion. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, all we see is red and hot pink, but those colors look pretty bad on me. So I like to wear more subtle colors but keep the feminine feel. Do you guys have any plans for Valentine’s Day? Andrew and I have nothing planned, so who knows! The weather has felt like summer lately. It was 92 yesterday and it completely confused me. Where is my El Nino? I’m still holding out! But for the time being I’ll wear some shorts and soak up the sunshine!
