Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk about introducing foods to babies. My twins are now 4 months old and I just started thinking about my plan for feeding them. It’s crazy to think that time is almost here! As of now I am still breastfeeding and giving them formula before bed and sometimes one other time during the day. I also am pumping about 2-3 times a day to up my supply and get some milk for them to have on hand if they won’t nurse. For this post I have partnered up with Stonyfield Organic to show you some more options when it comes to healthy baby food. Their YoBaby line, which is the #1 pediatrician recommended yogurt for ages 6 months-2 years, recently added a new strain of probiotics, BB-12. Probiotics are super beneficial for your gut. And your gut health is the foundation for overall good health.
It’s recommended that you wait to feed solids to your baby until they are 4-6 months old. You also want them to be able to sit upright and hold their head up. Our girls have good head control but still can’t sit up so I’m going to wait until they can. I am starting to notice they get easily distracted when nursing these days. If I start to talk to someone, they will turn their head toward me and start to smile and coo. It’s pretty cute, but can sometimes be frustrating when I want them to eat!
It is a bit overwhelming figuring out what to feed your babies once they are done breastfeeding yet to young for cow’s milk. But dairy is packed with nutrients like calcium and vitamin D which are both super nutritious for growing babies. The nice thing is, even if your babies are still breastfeeding, they can have yogurt at 6 months. These yogurts are a great option and made with organic whole milk.
So what other foods am I going to introduce to our girls first? Egg yolks are at the top of my list. They are packed with beneficial fatty acids and provide cholesterol needed for the optimal development of the nervous system. I’d love to know your thoughts on baby cereal. I’ve heard to pour some breast milk into it to help your baby get used to it. I’m just wondering if it has many nutritional benefits. I’d also like to introduce avocado around six months. They are packed with essential fats, vitamins and minerals. To prepare, I’m going to mush it up and add breast milk to thin it out. The other two things I’d like to introduce early on are bananas and sweet potatoes (both packed with vitamin A, C and folate).

Our kitchen is finally done! It is so amazing not having contractors come to our home every week to work on cabinets, paint, backsplash…the list goes on and on! So today I lots of pictures and I’ll give you details on everything as well. Let me first say that redoing our kitchen was a lot more work that I had anticipated on! However, I think in the end it was all worth it. I had a vision of what I wanted the end result to look like and it’s just as I imagined. Below are two pictures of what it looked like before the paint and backsplash.

Our cabinets are painted with Behr Swiss Coffee (semi-gloss), which is the color of our trim all throughout the house. When they first painted it I thought it looked so bright. But once the backsplash was installed (which is a bright white), the cabinets actually look much more creamy. The counters also look more grey no with everything completed. The counters are quartz and the color is New Carrara from Arizona Tile. We chose to use two slabs because I wasn’t a fan of pre-fab color options. Also, I don’t know if you remember, but we used to have a giant pantry to the left of the stove. We decided we’d rather have more counter space, so we extended the countertops to the wall. Now I use that space so much and I don’t even miss the pantry. Instead we have our spices, baking supplies, vitamins and other things in the two doors to the left of the over. We have all our canned goods and snacks in the drawer below the microwave.
We had glossy standard subway tile installed (non-bevel) with a light grey grout color. Originally we weren’t going to go all the way around the window, but I am so happy that’s what we ended up doing. I think it adds much more of an impact and completes the whole room.
Like I mentioned in my part 1 of the reno, our sink (32 in.) and faucet are both from Kohler. Everyday I love them more and more. The faucet is not only beautiful, but it is so functional. It has an extendable spout and three different settings (normal, spray and one that cleans the bottom of the sink out). I’m really happy I went with an apron front sink. I love how wide it is so I can fit all my pans in it completely and I swear I enjoy cleaning our dishes more now!
It ended up taking around two months to complete everything. Instead of having it all done at once, we wanted to space everything out (cabinets first, countertops next etc.) so we didn’t have to pay for everything all at once. It worked out great because we had a lot of time to decide on the exact thing we wanted done. Overall, I am so pleased with how everything turned out and I am also so thankful we did it all before our twins are born!
Hi friends! So today I have another installment of Be Inspired. I love doing these every now and then to reflect on what is going on in my life at the moment. So today’s quotes, like always, have a common thread. I’m working on taking the initiative for many aspects of my life. Mostly work related. A lot of the time I put things off (I tend to bookmark lots of emails) instead of tackling them right of the bat.
I’m also working on developing myself more. I know that is incredibly vague and cliche. I think the whole YouTube and blogging world can get a bit overwhelming at times. You are constantly trying to keep up with everyone else. I want to try to focus on my brand and my content. Nobody is exactly like you, which is why you should take full advantage of that.
The last thing I am working on is seeing the good in people. It is so easy to pass a quick judgement. It’s much harder to let things go and look past what is bothering you. You are in control of how you feel. I think we often think that other things make us upset, frustrated or down. It’s how we respond which really is completely our decision. I know this is getting a bit deep, but it’s getting late and this is what happens! I hope you all find peace in yourselves this week. (I might squeeze in some nighttime yoga…namaste!)
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! This morning I wanted to share some pictures of our holiday decor! I felt like this was such a long holiday season full of parties, decorating and so much sugar! Andrew and I were at Disneyland the other day and it was swamped with people. I think we hit a wall and realized we need a break from both Disney (I know shocking!), and also people. Christmas functions become a bit overwhelming at times and I think January is such a great time to regain your energy and clarity for the new year. So with that said, time to show you some pictures of our decor. It isn’t a ton, but we have been in apartments up until this year so I never really bought too many things for Christmas. I might go shopping after Christmas to get some more things for next year!
We got a fake tree this year from Lowes. I wasn’t even planning on it, but when we saw how real it looked we thought it was a no-brainer. We ended up getting the 7.5 foot one and it fits perfectly. I also love not having to water it! Our tree skirt is from West Elm, but unfortunately is sold out. But I love the faux fur look. For our whole tree theme it ended up looking very cozy and cabin-like. Reindeer and flannel wrapping paper will do that! (I found all my wrapping paper from Target this year.)
I love building upon our ornament collection each year. Andrew and I give each other one every Christmas and I always look forward to it! A few places I love to get mine from are Pottery Barn (wait till they go on sale), Michaels, West Elm, and Pier 1.

We found new stockings this year from West Elm (again, out of stock…so sorry!). The green one is for our sweet pup and those were the ones we used to use in our old apartments! I found those at Target three years ago.
I am a huge fan of putting greenery everywhere possible! It adds a cozy feel and is super easy. I also love that you can make it your own by sticking some metallic beads or pinecones in it. You can see I don’t like to use very bright decorations. I like them to just blend with our normal decor.
Hey guys! Today’s words of inspiration are some of my favorites. I have recently decided to quit being such a procrastinator and just get things done. I read the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and it has changed me! I started with my clothes, then moved on to our books, documents etc. If you follow me on my YouTube channel you have probably seen some of my makeup declutter videos. So the thing I never thought would happen (which in the book it actually says will), is that after decluttering my things, I have noticed so many other changes in my life. I still haven’t finished decluttering everything yet. It is a long process! But what I have noticed is that I cherish things more. I take my time getting ready for bed at night. I floss more. I fold my clothes (which I never used to do). I clean my dishes right after using them. I get more done. With less clutter around me, my mind is more at peace and it truly helps me get more accomplished throughout the day. I usually am trying to play catch up with my YouTube videos. But I am so ahead of my upload schedule I don’t know what to do! It is awesome. I feel like I have more time, and my time is valued. I highly recommend you guys read this book! It is super easy to ready and it’s pretty short. Even though it is a little odd at times, the overall message is really effective. Have any of you read it? I hope you all have a great week!

So I have had a little obsession with Fixer Upper on HGTV lately and have fallen in love with JoJo’s design taste. Everything is very French Country. I mean…I’m in love. Who knew how much you could feel like Snow White when you put on a tulle skirt and some red lipstick? I wanted to put together a look that would be a wow statement for Valentine’s Day. I kept the colors simplistic so the skirt could be the wow factor. This may be one of my favorite looks to post for you guys. It was such a feminine and girly outfit to wear. And definitely out of my comfort zone, but completely worth it! If you are into using natural products like myself, making things is your best bet! This scrub is as pure as it gets, and super easy. You only need three ingredients and most are probably already in your pantry. I started off intending this to be a face scrub, but now I think I like it more on my body. I have been using this in the shower all over my body and then apply what’s remaining to my face. You can use a variety of ingredients for scrubs, but I’ll tell you why I specifically chose these three.
MANUKA HONEY: This bottle of honey is pure gold. Honey has anti-bacterial properties, which makes it great at cleansing your skin and getting rid of all the gunk that has accumulated in your pores throughout the day. It is also very hydrating and soothing to the skin. After using honey on your face you will notice the texture of your skin will even out over time, and your breakouts will decrease.
OLIVE OIL: I love using olive oil on my face because it is incredibly hydrating and gentle. No matter what your skin type is, olive oil will work for you. I love the feeling my skin has after using this scrub. I rarely need to use a lotion afterward because of how moisturized my skin is.
SUGAR: Raw cane sugar is a great base for any scrub. It does a great job at exfoliating your skin, but is still gentle enough to use on your face.
I fill my jar pretty full with sugar, a few dashes of olive oil and a spoonful of honey. You can vary the amounts depending on how thick your want yours. Watch my video below to see me mix and apply the scrub!

If you don’t already know, I am obsessed with home decor. Andrew and I are on the hunt for a house right now, but are waiting until we save some more money. I really spend a lot of my time dreaming of my future home. Pinterest is a great place where I can put all my ideas and find so much inspiration. Once we do get a house you can expect a lot more decor posts. So in the meantime I am going to show you what I’m lusting over. Usually I pick items from multiple stores online, but I could not leave One King’s Lane. Most of their pieces are right up my alley and they are having some amazing sales right now. I am so in love with copper and marble decor accents, and the site is filled with them! I mean…can we take a moment and check out that rolling pin…?! I hope this gives you some great gift ideas!
It’s almost the weekend guys! So today I have some adorable workout clothes to share with you. Most are by Peach Pop, a super fun company. They recently asked me some questions for their blog and I figured I’d share everything I said with you as well! I need to take a moment to explain how often I’ve been wearing these pieces…I’m talking ALL THE TIME. Basically I want to live in the pink sports bra and purple tank. The sports bra is the most comfortable sports bra I’ve ever worn. You can’t even feel it which is why I love it. Whenever I wear sports bras I get a back ache, but this is not the case with this one. I need this in 100 colors!!! Okay on to the interview questions…
First off, tell us a little about yourself and your blog. My blog and youtube channel are an extension of myself. I post content on beauty, fashion and health. I am always looking for natural alternatives in my beauty routine and finding the absolute best products on the market. My blog is where I share all of that with my viewers. I do not claim to be a professional makeup artist or a personal trainer, but I am like many of you trying to find ways to look and feel our very best. My job is to make that process a little easier for you!
How is fitness a part of your life? Fitness has always been a part of my life. My family is very active so they keep me accountable if I’m ever too lazy. I wish that I woke up every day ready to go on a run, but that is far from the truth. I’m the type of person that would rather eat better, and exercise less. But what keeps me coming back for more is the feeling I get after a great workout. I have more energy, my skin clears up, and my mood improves. I also like to stay in shape just for the personal satisfaction. When I slack off, my body will show it, and that motivates me to tone up. You will never regret a workout, so if I can push myself to change into workout clothes and get my mind right, I’ll be so much happier afterwards. And wearing cute workout gear always helps!
Who is your fitspo? My fitness inspiration is all of my YouTube subscribers. They are the ones who keep me accountable and give me great tips and inspiration. The easiest way to get in shape, is to have someone who will hold you accountable. Have a friend workout with you to keep you motivated. If you are at home and want to stay on the couch for one more episode, it’s easy to skip a workout. But if you have a friend waiting for you at the gym, or a yoga class to attend, you are way more likely to get moving.
What does your day-to-day look like? My day-to-day includes a LOT of sitting in front of a computer screen. I usually wake up, respond to emails while drinking some tea or coffee and make a to-do list for the day. I will work on the day’s blog post and catch up on my social media accounts. Once I change out of my sweats and get ready, I will either start filming or editing future videos. Once I wash my makeup off, I like to throw on some work out clothes and get in a workout mid-afternoon. This is when I start crashing and need to step away from the computer screen and break a sweat. Then it is back to editing! I try to unplug from all media once I start cooking dinner and let myself relax! Before bed you will most likely find me watching HGTV. I’m really a 4- year-old at heart.
What is your beauty and style philosophy? Be yourself and be comfortable. Those go hand in hand to me. If I’m not comfortable in what I’m wearing, or if I have piles of makeup on my face, I don’t feel like myself. I like to take some beauty and fashion risks but I always stay true to who I am. With the social media world blowing up, it’s easy to compare yourself to others. Remember that nobody else is like you. Embrace that.
You and your husband are adorable. What’s one of your favorite activities to do together that get you moving? We love to go on hikes with our dog. It gets us outside and breathing in some fresh air. After you finish a hike, you always feel like a million bucks. Even though some are a struggle, the end result is what I chase. We also like to play tennis and go to the gym together. Being active is a great way to stay connected and feel better from the inside out.
