Bedroom Decor Update

seating area

Hey guys! I’m so excited to share this post with you. Our bedroom is practically complete now so I wanted to show you our ‘nook’ area. Before we had nothing here and I had envisioned something very calming and relaxing. I wanted it to be a sitting area, but also a place for a large mirror so I could get a good look at all my outfits! Mirrors also make spaces look much larger. Our bedroom is pretty monochromatic so I wanted a few pops of color, but nothing overwhelming. I went with this photo of Venice for some added color. Pillows are also an easy way to change up the look and feel of a room. I hope you all love it as much as I do! And a big thank you to Joss & Main and Minted for helping me bring my vision to life!upholstered chair

^^This chair is exactly what I wanted. It is big enough to lounge in, but doesn’t take up too much space. I love how the legs give it a formal feel, yet the back cushion keeps it casual.pouf and mirrorsitting area

^^This picture is so dreamy. I could stare at it all day. Venice is one of my top places I want to visit, so having this image in our room keeps that dream always visible! I chose the champagne silver frame because I felt the silver would be too stark and we don’t have any gold in our room as it is. This was a happy medium. I also love how you can see the reflection of our french doors through the glass.ornate floor mirror

^^This mirror is everything! It’s not on the Joss & Main site anymore (I linked a similar one down below) but I would check often to see if it comes back! I first saw a similar mirror at Neiman Marcus and Horchow, but it was way too expensive. One morning I saw it on Joss & Main and pretty much bought it 5 minutes later! I love how thick the frame is. It adds such a romantic and old fashion vibe.sitting areaside table

This side table adds the perfect amount of balance. I love mixing in rustic pieces with more formal pieces. I never really know what to call my style, I just know what I like!bedroom nooksitting area-bedroom design

Hey guys! I’ve been so excited to share this outfit with you. Forever 21 just launched a new shop section called Forever 21 Now and in honor of it, I have some super affordable pieces for you to shop! They’ll launch new pieces every week based on current trends. Check out their instagram HERE. I love mixing things up and trying out new styles. I decided to wear a darker lip for this ‘mostly’ black look because it’s fall, so why not! The lip color I’m wearing is the color I created in a recent video. You can watch that HERE. I’m loving this dress with the fringe sleeves. I think it adds a little edge to a simple dress. To make it more fall appropriate I added over the knee boots which I am so obsessed with. These are incredibly comfortable and dress up any outfit. I think these would look great with some skinny jeans! Let me know what styles you have been loving this season in the comments! Thanks so much for stopping by!

DIY: Sugar Scrub

If you are into using natural products like myself, making things is your best bet! This scrub is as pure as it gets, and super easy. You only need three ingredients and most are probably already in your pantry. I started off intending this to be a face scrub, but now I think I like it more on my body. I have been using this in the shower all over my body and then apply what’s remaining to my face. You can use a variety of ingredients for scrubs, but I’ll tell you why I specifically chose these three.Sugar Scrub

MANUKA HONEY: This bottle of honey is pure gold. Honey has anti-bacterial properties, which makes it great at cleansing your skin and getting rid of all the gunk that has accumulated in your pores throughout the day. It is also very hydrating and soothing to the skin. After using honey on your face you will notice the texture of your skin will even out over time, and your breakouts will decrease.

OLIVE OIL: I love using olive oil on my face because it is incredibly hydrating and gentle. No matter what your skin type is, olive oil will work for you. I love the feeling my skin has after using this scrub. I rarely need to use a lotion afterward because of how moisturized my skin is.

SUGAR: Raw cane sugar is a great base for any scrub. It does a great job at exfoliating your skin, but is still gentle enough to use on your face.

Sugar Scrub

I fill my jar pretty full with sugar, a few dashes of olive oil and a spoonful of honey. You can vary the amounts depending on how thick your want yours. Watch my video below to see me mix and apply the scrub!

Product Empties

IMG_3594 IMG_8779Another month has gone by and it’s time to show you my trash! I feel like I was trying to hard to work through some products and for some reason didn’t have much in the end. I used up so many products before we moved so I guess it will take me a little time to start pushing through some more. I love getting to the bottom of my products. I feel somehow rewarded and accomplished. Please tell me some of you feel the same way! This months empties were pretty half and half. Some I liked, some I didn’t. I hope you all get a good sense to how each product worked for me. That’s the nice thing about reviewing a product after it is used up, I completely know how I liked it or not. Thank you all so much for coming by my blog today and have a great Thursday!

Big Sur

IMG_3690

On our trip up north we drove along the coast to see Big Sur. I couldn’t get over how beautiful it was. I mean, check out that water! God is good and he really opened my eyes to see the beauty all around me. This whole trip has really been quite the experience. Mostly, it has taught me I need to simplify things. Leaving most of our belongings in San Diego was really tough at first and I couldn’t imagine how I was going to live for three months with so little. To be honest, it still isn’t easy. But I have a new appreciation for other things now. Stepping outside and taking a walk through the city gives me so much energy. I don’t need to go shopping in order to be in a good mood, I just need to take my dog on a walk for some fresh air. Sometimes, I purposefully leave me phone, so I can just be in the moment. It is kind of sad to say that, but I am constantly on my phone checking twitter, instagram and my emails. I have to force myself to put the phone down and unplug for a bit. Are any of you guilty of being disconnected to the actual world because you are so connected online? It is a constant struggle considering it is my job. But I just need to find a healthy balance. Thank you all for stopping by and enjoy these pics!

Trip to Seattle: Part 3

Happy Monday friends! Here is the second to last of my road trip series. We still are living with friends on Mercer Island. I am so excited to get into our apartment on Wednesday and be in the heart of the city. This video captures us driving across the California border and into Portland. This was the longest stretch of driving we did, so we get a little loopy!! Enjoy!

Trip to Seattle: Part 2

Who is ready for part 2 of our road trip??? Thanks for being patient with me while Andrew and I get settled up here! Twenty two hours of driving is pretty exhausting. We got in to Seattle this afternoon and the first thing we wanted to do was go on a walk after being cramped for so long. Breathing in the fresh air was such a nice change from the lovely smog back in LA. I am super excited to explore up here, I already am in love!

Friday Favs: 7/10/14

IMG_2827IMG_6862

Happy Friday…er Saturday! My video wouldn’t attach from my phone, so I had to wait until we got home from Disneyland. I have been super busy packing this week. Andrew and I have made a ton of trips down to San Diego to drop off boxes. We leave 5 days and I am so excited to let the road tripping begin! Since I have been on the go all week, running errands and such, I haven’t been spending too much time doing my makeup. This week is all about simple things that go the distance! Also, most of these favorites have been around for a while so I know they are worth it. I hope you all enjoy today’s video and thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you all enjoy your weekend!
